This guide contains a collection of oral histories and archival materials related to the history of Saint Leo University and its surrounding communities since its inception in the late 19th century.

Saint Leo students created several newspapers over the years including THE SAINT LEO CHRONICLE, THE MONARCH, and THE LIONS' PRIDE. Holy Name Academy's newspaper was called SEARCHLIGHT. The articles included below have been chosen because each highlights a unique aspect of life for students at Saint Leo Prep or Holy Name Academy.

Saint Leo Prep THE SAINT LEO CHRONICLE October 1954 "Nibblings." In this article, 'The Rat' tells all regarding keeping order in 'Diaper Alley' -- the hallway where the youngest boys live in the dormitories

Saint Leo Prep THE SAINT LEO CHRONICLE September 1955 "Girls Invade Boys Sanctum." This is the first time the Holy Name girls take classes with the Saint Leo Prep boys.

Saint Leo Prep THE SAINT LEO CHRONICLE October 1954 "Demerit Squad Weeds Campus." In this article at the bottom left of the page, it is reported that students receiving demerits are required to perform weeding and gardening work as punishment

THE SAINT LEO CHRONICLE, 9/10/1955. Two articles toward the bottom left discuss the improvements being made to the campus, including St. Edward's Hall which is still in use by Saint Leo University. Also note the top right article about a missing horse.
