Writing and Research Support: Make an Appointment

Designed by library writing faculty, this LibGuide contains information about the library's writing and research support service.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where are you located?

A: We are located on the first floor of Cannon Memorial Library, University Campus.

Q: Do you offer online writing support?

A: Absolutely. Online appointments may be conducted via email or Blackboard Collaborate Ultra.

Q: Do you proofread or edit papers?

A: We do not offer proofreading or editing services. Instead, we collaborate with writers to develop lasting skills, thereby cultivating knowledge rather than providing “correction.”

Q: Who can make an appointment?

A: All current Saint Leo students, faculty, or staff may schedule an appointment.

Q: What do I need to bring to a learning session?

A: It is helpful to bring two copies of your assignment, along with assignment guidelines.

Q: I am writing a research paper for a psychology class. Do you help with assignments from disciplines other than English?

A: We welcome writing assignments and text-based projects (including PowerPoints) from disciplines across the curriculum. Although we are not subject-matter experts for many of these courses, we are qualified to provide feedback on how well your writing adheres to assignment guidelines and conventions of standard written English.

Q: My professor wants proof that I received help on this assignment. Can you give me something to prove that I visited you?

A: Of course. We can provide documentation showing that you consulted us.
