The library offers puzzles, board games, coloring books and crayons at the request of the adult. Minor children should not be left unattended in the library while the parent, guardian, or designated adult is attending class or otherwise occupied.
  • Service animals are welcome to attend their owner in the library.

Library Code of Conduct

The Daniel A, Cannon Memorial Library promotes the Catholic Benedictine values of Saint Leo University. The library seeks to be a mind‐body‐spirit focused facility. All guests, students, and employees are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that maintains the welcoming atmosphere, and intellectual curiosity needed for academic pursuits necessary for all to experience the library to the fullest.

  • Treating ourselves and others as members of the community who are valued, respected, and appreciated is an expectation.
  • Behavior is expected to be of a high standard. Running, rowdiness, and disruption of the library environs and events will result in loss of privileges.
  • Personal belongings, technology, and library property are to be used as designed; damage or theft will be addressed as outlined in University policies.
  • Guests and members of the library are expected to treat the facility with the utmost respect, and dedication to preserving the environment.
  • Students should use their University ID card to enter the library. Anyone without an ID card (including students) are expected to sign in at the front desk. ID cards are available to registered students at Security.
  • Food and drink are permitted in the library. Cleaning up after oneself is expected (see Food & Drink policy)
  • Areas designated as quiet zones are meant to limit conversation and encourage focused study and productivity.
  • Safe ride may (or may not) be available during the academic year.
  • Parking in Lot 6 (lot closest to the library) is limited to Lot 6 sticker holders 8AM-5PM Monday-Friday. Stop at Security for parking directions as needed. Parking on weekends and in the evenings is open to students and the public. Parking on Lot 6 without a sticker during prohibited hours may result in a ticket, boot, or towing.

The faculty and staff of the library are committed to providing encouragement, support and resources for intellectual growth and academic excellence.

Food & Drink

Florida is a very warm and humid climate, which means there are a lot of critters outside; we would prefer they not be enticed inside by food or sugary drinks.

The library allows drinks, snacks, and other food; please put a lid on all drinks and report spills immediately.

  • Non-alcoholic beverages are welcome in the library, as long as there is a lid on the container; snacks are permissible, such as hard candy, gum, nuts, sandwiches, etc; anything messy should be eaten on the patio.
  • Your breakfast, lunch, dinner or snack may be eaten any where in the library if it is not messy or greasy; messy or greasy food (i.e., food that is greasy, sticky, or crumbly) should be eaten out on the patio. Please clean table(s) when finished. The library has supplies you may use. Just ask.
  • Please refrain from feeding the squirrels, as it can make them aggressive and a nuisance.
  • Keep all potential spills from food and drink away from keyboards, mice, monitors, books, journals and magazines, and other library materials.
  • Dispose of trash in trash cans and use available blue recycling bins for paper.
  • Group events and large quantities of food are permitted in the library, by prior arrangement and permission in relation to a sponsored academic event.
  •  “No Fault” policy: report spills immediately so we can ensure that damaged equipment, materials, furniture or carpeting is properly treated and there is appropriate clean-up.

Thank you for your help and cooperation in making this policy a success.
