Framework for Information Literacy: Discipline Specific Lesson Plans

Compiled by the FLA Academic Instruction & Information Literacy Member Group

Discipline Specific Lesson Plans

The lesson plans on this page are the result of a session sponsored by the Academic Instruction & Information Literacy Member Group at the 2017 Florida Library Association Conference.

Each lesson plan has an accompanying assignment scenario.

The lesson plan template integrates:

  • Understanding by Design
  • ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education
  • Signature Pedagogies

Instruction librarians who are teaching a library session in a specific discipline may want to consider integrating a signature  pedagogy from that discipline in their lesson plan.  For example, one of the signature pedagogies for visual art is "critique as a means of understanding the student's work in progress and completed work."  The concept of "critique" could be applied in a library session where students are asked to "critique" or evaluate resources.
