My Family is a 1995 independent American drama directed by Gregory Nava written by Nava and Anna Thomas, The film shows  three generations of a Mexican American family who immigrated from Mexico and settled in East Los Angeles .

Hester Street is a 1975 film based on Abraham Cahans' 1896 novella Yekl: A Tale of the New York Ghetto and was adapted and directed by Joan Silver. 

The film Gangs of New York is a 2002 Italian American drama set in the mid-19th century in theFive point District of Lower manhattan. The film was directed by Martin Scorsese.

Amistad is a 1997 historical dramadirected by Steven speilberg. It is based on the notable mutiny in 1839 by newly captured Mende slaves who took control of the ship La Amistad  off the coast of Cuba.

Roots is a TV Mini Series in the USA based onAlex haleys 1976 novel, tittled Roots: The Saga of an Amercian Family.  The series first aired, on ABC-TV in 1977. 

Made in L.A. is a film that follows  the  story of three Latina immigrants working in Los Angeles garment sweatshops as they begin  on a three-year odyssey to win basic labor protections from a clothing retailer

The Joy Luck Club is a 1993 American film that depicts the  relationships between Chinese American women and their Chinese mothers. 

The  2006 film shows  the journey of an American-born Gogol, who is  the son of Indian immigrants who wants to fit in among his fellow New Yorkers even though  his family's unwillingness to let go of their traditional ways may cause tension.

The 2002 film depicts , An Irish immigrant family adjusts to life in the United States.The semi-autobiographical film by Sheridan and his daughters focuses on an immigrant Irish family's struggle to start a new life in New York City, as seen through the eyes of the elder daughter.

Filmmaker Elia Kazan based Amrica, America on the early life of his Greek-immigrant uncle called Stavros Topouzoglow. As a young immigrant, his starry-eyed impressions of America are soon compromised by reality.

In the middle of the 19th century, Kristina and Karl-Oskar live in a small rural village in southern Sweden. The small size of their land, the infertile soil, and some bad harvests makes it tough.Thus, they  emigrate to the U.S. 

    The Godfather is a 1972 crime film . It was directed byFrancis cappola. It is  Based on Puzo's 1969  novel which has the same name. The film depicts leaders of a fictional New York crime family.

David Grubin's documentary about the history of the Jews in America  was made in 2008 for PBS. It  was broadcasted in Israel in six one-hour installments rather than the three series original format presented to the American public.
