Global Studies: Events

The SLU Global Studies Club will be hosting Amnesty International's annual human rights advocacy event. Participants will be given a list of cases about ongoing human rights abuses worldwide. They will then write letters (either from a template or free form) to world leaders to call for an end to these abuses. The Write for Rights campaign achieves real results through political pressure.

OXFAM America's annual Hunger Banquet is not a conventional dining event. Participants are assigned an income level on which the quality and size of their meal is based. Like the real world, some will be born into prosperity while others struggle to get by.

WHO: Intercultural Students Club in collaboration with the Global Studies Club.
WHAT: An eye-opening event about world hunger and poverty.
