Journal of Values-Based Business: Submission Guidelines

Journal published by the College of Business, Saint Leo University

Scope

JVBB focuses on business ethics and business education, emphasizing the impact of values on these areas.

We accept many types of research articles: quantitative, qualitative, mixed-methods, quantitative or qualitative meta-analysis, literature review, theoretical, or methodological.  Opinion essays are out of scope.

Peer Review Process

Peer Review Process

JVBB utilizes a double-blind peer review process to ensure fairness and anonymity of all involved.

  1. The Editor-in-Chief accepts submissions. The title page is removed, and the document is assigned a number to ensure its anonymity.

  1. The submission is sent to volunteer peer reviewers for a 2-week period of review. The document is reviewed using “track changes.”

  1. The document is returned to the Editor-in-Chief with a decision to reject, revise and resubmit, or accept, with no modifications other than minor grammar and punctuation issues.

  1. If both reviewers reject the document, the document will not be published, and the Editor-in-Chief will notify the author. If one reviewer rejects the document, it may be sent to a third reviewer to determine if it should be rejected.

  1. If the author is offered the opportunity to revise and resubmit, the Editor-in-Chief will send the document with track changes so that the author can address the modifications needed for potential acceptance and resubmission. Changes recommended by both reviewers must be completed to be fully accepted, or the author may submit an accompanying document that explains why they have or have not accepted specific changes.

  1. If the document is accepted with minor revisions to grammar and punctuation, the Editor-in-Chief will notify the author. The revisions to the document will be completed by the author and returned to the Editor-in-Chief for publication.

Submission Guidelines

Submission Guidelines

  • Submissions may be 1,500 to 6,000 words.  Longer works may be accepted. However, authors may be asked to shorten submissions with more than 7,000 words.

  • Authors should submit an anonymized document, except for the title page.  The title page will be removed by the editor-in-chief before being sent out for peer review. No identifying information should be in the abstract or body of the paper.  Example: The Institutional Review Board of ___________ University approved the study. Avoid any references or ways that the study's author could be determined through obvious means, such as the name of a school, town, or business.

  • The title page should include an author note that consists of the following: all authors, author affiliations, ORCID IDs, and email addresses.  If accepted, additional biographical information may be requested.

  • The title page should include a disclosure statement following the author’s note. “We have no conflicts of interest to disclose” may be used if there are none to report.

  • Submissions must be in Microsoft Word .docx. We utilize “track changes” in Word to review documents and provide feedback for authors.

  • APA 7th edition is required for all citations and reference pages, headings, figures, and tables. APA writing style should also be used for correct grammar and punctuation, such as capitalization, abbreviations, and how to write numbers.

  • The Abstract should be close to 150 to 200 words. Up to five keywords may be supplied on the Abstract page.

  • Submissions should follow the Journal Article Reporting Standards in chapter three of the APA 7th edition manual. Standards are provided for many types of articles: quantitative, qualitative, mixed-methods, quantitative or qualitative meta-analysis, literature review, theoretical, or methodological.

  • Figures and Tables in APA 7th edition format should be included in the document not submitted as separate files. Please be sure the figures and tables are not screenshots but are inserted correctly in the document. If you need assistance with this issue, contact the Editor-in-Chief.

Ethical Considerations

  • Manuscripts must adhere to the highest ethical standards.

  • Manuscripts must not be previously published or under review by another publication.

  • Provide proof of institutional review board (IRB) approval for research involving human or animal subjects.

  • Disclose any potential conflicts of interest.

  • Comply with plagiarism and research integrity guidelines; all sources must be cited, all work is original.

  • Do not use generative AI for writing other than minor grammar and spelling aid.
