In-person event at the Daniel A. Cannon Memorial Library

Saint Leo Alum and former Managing Editor of Sandhill Review, Joshua Davis, returns to campus for a reading, Q&A, and book signing.

Joshua Davis is the author of Authentic Embellishments: Fragments of a Life Saved by Poetry, Reversal Spells in Blue and Black, and, with Allison Blevins, the co-author of Chorus for the Kill and Fiery Poppies Bruising Their Own Throats. He holds an MFA from Stonecoast at the University of Southern Maine, an MFA from the University of Mississippi, and an M.A. from Pittsburg State University. A former John and Renee Grisham Fellow, he offers online workshops and private mentoring at The Poetry Barn. Recent poems have appeared or are forthcoming in The Inflectionist Review, Glass: A Journal of Poetry, The New Southern Fugitives, Tinfish, and Apalachee Review. He is a doctoral candidate in Literature at Ohio University, and he teaches high school English in the Tampa, Florida, area.

Dr. Patrick Sheridan, Associate Professor of Chemistry, will present From Benchtop to Battlefield: Designing and Synthesizing Molecules to Defeat Superbugs, which will explain the pedagogical practices he uses to involve undergraduate students in hands-on research that utilizes fundamental chemistry to design and build novel therapeutic compounds.

 

Dr. Sergiy Borisov, Associate Professor of Biology, will present Cognitive Reasoning and Symbolic Associations: A Quicker Way to Mental Well-Being, which will reflect on how his support for Ukraine, a nation at war, has evolved over the past four years.
