POL 499: Senior Seminar [Winston Churchill]: Library Related Assignments

The first book report will be on Churchill’s Empire. Everyone will be reading and writing a review on the same book. This will be a popular book review of the kind one generally finds submitted by readers on Amazon.com. You are, however, not to consult any Internet or printed source before writing this book report.

Any borrowing of phrases from published reviews will be considered plagiarism and prosecuted as such. You must purchase and mark your own individual copy of the book, as it will be checked from cover to cover for evidence of deep reading.(LOD 1 & 3)

The second book report will be on Ministers at War.This will be a scholarly book review of the kind generally submitted to journals for peer review.It will require some comparisons with other articles on the same subject and other reviews. Comparative Scholarly Article Review:You must gather two scholarly articles on the same aspect of Churchill’s preparation for leadership or Churchill’sactions during the Second World War and compare and contrast them. The book will be purchased and brought to class to be examined for hard evidence of critical reading.
