Ralph R. Clemente

Director/Producer/Educator

While serving as the filmmaker-in-residence at the University of Miami, the

Miami Herald praised Ralph R. Clemente as the “Filmmaker to Watch.” In 2008,

Clemente was honored as the fourth individual to be named as a "Florida Legend.”

In his twenty-two years as the Chair of the Valencia Community College

Film Program, Clemente has catapulted its film department into national

prominence with a visionary approach. The program has been hailed by

Steven Spielberg as “one of the finest in the country.” Clemente’s approach

has been to integrate students working side by side with professional

filmmakers on the production of 40 feature films, many of which were

honored with screenings and awards in a variety of international film

festivals including Sundance. The film program also produced many short

subjects, music videos, and public awareness projects.

With his unique abilities to draw highly acclaimed production

professionals to Valencia’s projects, he has provided his students with an

incomparable learning experience. The Valencia program has worked with

Robert Wise, George Romero, Reza Badiyi, Jonathan Krane, Julie Harris,

Ruby Dee, Sally Kellerman, Joe DiMaggio, Ed Begley, Jr., Tyne Daly,

Mickey Rooney, Talia Shire, and Peter Spirer among many others.

Clemente currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Orlando Film

Festival. He previously served on the jury of several other film festivals

and screenwriting competitions.
