Ideas for Assignments

When developing assignments, think about what you want to the students to learn, rather than what they should produce.

  • Chunk the assignment and review frequently
  • Emphasize the process and the benefits/real world applicability
  • Flip the classroom
  • Connect to personal experiences of the students
  • Require group work to be visible in the classroom (i.e., discussions, working papers in Office 365 with comments from contributors, etc.)
  • Ask for reflective feedback on the process of creating the product for the assignment
