Why fact check an AI tool?

• Each AI tool has been programmed.
  • Programmers are not unbiased
• AI tools can "hallucinate" (They lie!)
  • AI tools can become more biased and less reliable over time as they "learn" from their prompts and user information
    • They use prompts and data provided by the user to learn
    • Prompts and data are influenced by the user who inputs them
    • The tool can misunderstand the idea behind a prompt
• Fact Checking an AI tool with another AI tool is not the best method
  • Use other reliable sources to determine if the information is correct
  • Check any authors and any resources listed.
    • The author might exist, but did the author write the article listed, in the journal listed?
      • Sometimes the article is a composite from several articles
      • Sometimes the journal does not exist
      • Sometimes one or more authors do not exist
