Disability Pride Month July: Welcome

This guide will provide links to resources supporting Disability Pride Month in July.

Disability Pride Month July

July is Disability Pride Month!

"The ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) was signed into law on July 26, 1990, following many years of advocacy by the disability and civil rights communities. Since then, the ADA has transformed American society, guaranteeing that people with disabilities have the same opportunities as everyone else to enjoy employment opportunities, purchase goods and services, and participate in state and local government programs."

"The flag was created to encompass all disabilities and was designed by Ann Magill member of the disability community. The black background represents the suffering of the disability community from violence and also serves as a color of rebellion and protest...The five colors represent the variety of needs and experiences: Mental Illness, Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Invisible and Undiagnosed Disabilities, Physical Disabilities, and Sensory Disabilities."
