HON 499 Professor Moon's Library Instruction: Home

HON499 _ The Librarian and Your Project

This is a book I will be reading as I support you in your undergraduate research projects. Sincerely, Professor Moon

Chapter One quote: "Prioritize students' learning and adjust curriculum as needed, starting with the learning objectives and selecting appropriate methodologies and/or tools that will further these goals." p. 8

INSTRUCTOR REQUEST:

"I'm teaching HON 499 this semester and was wondering if you'd have time to visit my class and lend some advice?"

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

1. Students will clarify their research questions. ACRL Framework:

Research as Inquiry

Research is iterative and depends upon asking increasingly complex or new questions whose answers in turn develop additional questions or lines of inquiry in any field.

2. Students will develop appropriate research strategies and techniques for searching databases. ACRL Framework:

Searching as Strategic Exploration

Searching for information is often nonlinear and iterative, requiring the evaluation of a range of information sources and the mental flexibility to pursue alternate avenues as new understanding develops.
