Writing Support: Services & Policies

Designed by library writing faculty, this LibGuide contains information about the library's writing support service.

Writing Support Services

Cannon Memorial Library writing faculty offer instructional services cultivating writing and critical thinking skills. Emphasizing active participation and collaboration, this service connects students directly with writing faculty. In turn, writers are positioned as the ultimate authorities over their writing. We believe this empowers writers to become better editors of their own work.

Library writing faculty offer support during every stage of the writing process, from brainstorming sessions to discussions of second or third drafts. In 30-minute or 60-minute consultations, we guide writers toward viewing writing as both a product and a process--a portable skill essential for writers in all disciplines.

Writing Support Policies

1. The appointment schedule is organized around 30-minute and 60-minute sessions.

3. Writers may schedule up to four 30-minute appointments per week or two 60-minute appointments per week, with no more than two sessions per day.
