Required History Courses for the Major in History

Sophmore Standing.

Course Description

The intent of the course is to give students an understanding of the historical origins of the Arab-Israeli problem and an appreciation of the political, social and economic aspects of contemporary life in Israel, the West Bank and Gaza.

The course will be run in seminar format, with each student expected to contribute to class discussion.  Specific readings will be assigned for each class and the discussion will center around an analysis of that reading.  A number of classes will also be given over to oral reports, each student being required to make one such presentation.
