Former Major League Baseball player Darryl Strawberry to speak about substance abuse, Thursday, March 26, 2015.
As part of the University Speaker Series, former Major League Baseball (MLB) player Darryl Strawberry will present Recovery from Substance Abuse at 7 p.m., Thursday, March 26, in the Greenfelder-Denlinger Boardrooms of the Student Community Center. His talk is free and open to the public.
Strawberry is a former MLB outfielder who played 17 seasons with the New York Mets, New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers, and the San Francisco Giants.
He also serves as the spokesperson for the Darryl Strawberry Recover Center (DSRC) in St. Cloud, FL, south of Orlando. The DSRC was founded in a partnership between Strawberry and Oglethorpe Inc., a company which has over 15 years of experience in managing successful behavioral health centers in five states. They provide effective treatment to all individuals who are suffering from substance abuse, with a center for excellence in addiction treatment and recovery.
The event is co-sponsored by John Picciano, a 1969 graduate of Saint Leo College, and chief executive officer of Oglethorpe Inc.
