September 11: We remember and honor the fallen: 9/11/2001: Honor the Fallen

Today

With the COVID pandemic, high unemployment, and scary world events all around us, it is easy to get overwhelmed. September 11, 2001 marked a bit of a shift in American's feelings of safety, and connectedness in this country, with its melting pot of citizens, refugees, and visitors. It reminded us about the likelihood, and randomness, of peril from within and without our borders.

Citizens of 77 different countries were among the casualties. New York City lost 441 first responders.

We can remember the fallen, the kindness of strangers in the city and world around us, and work to make today better, safer, and kinder.  We can have difficult conversations about the issues we in America face today. You and I - We - can make a difference.
