Most communities have a history that is comprised of the good, the bad, and the ugly. We can ignore those times that make us uncomfortable and ashamed; deny that they happened, or accept them, and acknowledge the pain and suffering caused by them.
"GROVELAND – It has been written about in books, there is a major motion picture coming out about it and the Lake County Historical Museum is creating a display about it.
Yet the little community museum in Groveland has largely ignored the Groveland Four episode that continues to enrage people across the nation in hopes of letting the community put the darkest episode in the city’s history behind it.
At the Groveland Historical Museum, which is operated by the Groveland Historical Society, there is no mention of the time in 1949 when four young black men were accused without evidence of raping a white woman.
