What can be requested through Interlibrary Loan?

Books, book chapters, five articles from any one journal title (as per copyright restriction), and microforms.

What can’t you request?

Reference books, videos, computer programs, eBooks, textbooks or items we already own.

How many items can I request?

Patrons can request up to 10 items a week.

Is there a charge for Interlibrary Loans?

SLU works hard to offer ILL at no fee. If a patron has requested an item with a charge, the patron will be responsible for all charges.

How can I request an item?

Under “Services” on the library homepage, there is an Interlibrary Loan tab which has the appropriate forms to request books and/or articles.

Interlibrary loan books cannot be placed “On Reserve” for a course.

How long does it take?

Items can take from 3 days to two weeks to arrive.

SLU does not offer overnight shipping to patrons.

Can Center and Online Learners use Interlibrary Loan?

Students, Staff and Faculty from Saint Leo may request books and articles to be delivered to their home.

If you are a student who lives beyond 30 miles of Saint Leo main campus you are eligible to have materials sent to your home address.

Patrons are responsible for all return postage for loans.

How long do I get to keep the item?

Every university assigns their own due date, but ranges from one month to three months. Lenders can recall an item at any time.

Can I renew my ILL?

The renewal is determined by the lending library. Contact the Interlibrary Loan office to request a renewal of the item.

Are there penalties for overdue items?

There are no penalties for overdue items. If the item is not returned 60 days passed the due date, patrons will be charged a replacement fee for the item.

How do I get my materials and where do I return them?

Articles will be sent to SLU e-mail address only. Physical copies of articles are at the circulation desk or will be mailed to the address given.

Incoming Loans are held at the circulation desk under your name. Only the person who requested the ILL can pick up the item.

Returning:

SLU patrons who are returning books can only return books to the interlibrary loan department at the main campus.
